This show saw the ABB taking it up yet another notch in their third show back. Despite the ugly weather, they delivered their best New Jersey show in years, full of scorching jams and unique songs. Gregg was arguably the star of the show, his voice full of passion and conviction as he sang the first versions of “Not My Cross To Bear” and “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More” since his return from Hepatitis C treatments, which gave the songs extra meaning.

Willie Dixon’s classic blues tune “I Ain’t Superstitious” was given the full Allman Brothers treatment in its debut, with Warren growling the vocals while Derek’s slide cut like barbed wire. Derek was particularly amazing on “Dreams,” showing why it is one of his signature songs, and he and Warren brought the house down while trading licks on “Woman Across The River.”

“Hot ’Lanta” was intense and tight, and the whole band got a chance to shine on an extended version of “Revival” that including bass and drum solos, and is nothing like any other version of the song you’ve heard. Add Junior Mack (Jaimoe's Jassz Band) on a ripping “Southbound” encore and you have a show that stands up with any of recent years.
