The last show of the first leg of their co-bill tour with Widespread Panic demanded a special performance, and the Allman Brothers Band delivered! Lots of sit-ins by the Panic guys, spectacular jams, blues classics, it's all here.

The band came charging out of the gate with "Statesboro Blues" and "One Way Out," knocking the crowd back on their heels before a sublime "Ain't Wastin' Time No More" that saw Derek and Warren creating magical slide guitar soundscapes. The increasingly epic "Rocking Horse" melted into "Midnight Rider," another nice contrast of styles.

John Bell from Widespread Panic adds vocals to the Van Morrison classic "And It Stoned Me," and Panic keyboardist "JoJo" Hermann adds to the fun on a jammed-out version of Dylan's "It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry" that morphs into a raging inferno of a "Black Hearted Woman." Intense!

Speaking of intense, fully half of Widespread Panic joins in on "Southbound," with Jimmy Herring, Dave Schools and Hermann helping the ABB create a massive wall of sound. Jimmy gets to play the blues on "Stormy Monday," his pure tone ringing out like a bell.

The band doesn't need any help on the blockbuster versions of "Mountain Jam" and "Whipping Post" that end the show, both of which are full of fiery solos, interesting improv, and incredible ensemble dynamics. This old-school combo is the perfect ending to a great 2-night run in Chicago.

What a tour! Much love to Widespread Panic, we'll see you in October for another round of fun!
