This night was a bliss and blues fest, as the band came out hot and heavy from the opening notes of “Statesboro Blues.” Derek was all over it and Bobby Allende from Santana added great percussions. The fever continued into “You Don’t Love Me,” with Gregg sounding steady and strong. Warren elevated the energy level even higher with “Woman Across the River,” and then the blues were put on display with a smoldering “Stormy Monday.” Gregg was at his gospel best on the vocals, and Warren and Derek burned the strings throughout.

“End of the Line” was raw and edgy, while the rhythm section took charge on the explosive “True Gravity,” with Oteil’s bass line snaking through the song like a live wire. “That’s What Love Will Make You Do” saw special guests Lincoln Scheifer and Scott Sharrard join in on the fun, and “Soulshine” had Warren and Gregg taking the crowd to church.

Lamar Williams Jr., took a turn on the vocals during “Midnight Rider,” “Dusk Till Dawn” is starting to round into form, and Derek slid right through “Don’t Keep Me Wondering.” Warren would have made Otis proud on “I’ve Been Lovin’ You too Long,” and the Juke Horns added wonderful soul to “And It Stoned Me.” Jaimoe, Butch and Marc got their moment on “Les Brers in A Minor,” and the pumping “No One to Run With” closed out an extremely satisfying and first-rate show.
